137. Kids HABITS, Mom HACKS, and Getting Your Kids to Clean Their Room without Wreaking Havoc on Your Relationship from the "Lasso Your Life Series"
Too often we moms get distracted by the smaller parenting issue right in front of us, missing the BIGGER, LONG-TERM issue behind it that matters even more than the immediate frustration or difficulty with our child. Or, sometimes, in an effort to deal with this immediate issue, we don't realize we are sacrificing the bigger priority. This parenting gig can be COMPLICATED. Today, in episode 137, I'm going to help you sort some of this out. We're going to get a long-term view about the immediate issue, focusing on making the most of the immediate issue by using it to DEVELOP GOOD HABITS for the long-term. Getting them to clean their rooms is one of those issues that is like that. Yes, having a clean room matters, but not at the expense of our relationship with them, SO... how can we do both - how can we use the issue of messy bedroom to develop some LIFE HABITS and keep your relationship in tact as well? Let's talk about it today on the Practically Speaking MOM Podcast. Listen to episode 137 and let's break it down into smaller, doable steps.
You see, it's not really about getting their room clean at this moment. What matters is taking this moment to move the room forward in a way that equips them more with positive HABITS regarding taking care of themselves and their things. AND, ALWAYS, NO MATTER WHAT, our bigger goals are about their hearts and our relationship with them. Are there ways that accomplish all of this at the same time? Yes. There are ways to FOCUS on what really matters while getting the general RESULTS we need for this moment as well.
"Lasso Your Life" is an occasional series on the Practically Speaking MOM Podcast in which we take a deeper dive into a particular mom responsibility and find some ways to SIMPLIFY and get a system for this responsibility so we REDUCE our TIME and MENTAL EFFORT on this "have to" to free us up to focus on what really matters - the hearts and minds of our kids and RELATIONSHIP STRENGTH.
