Practically Speaking Mom: Intentional Mom, Strong Family
Do you long to be a more intentional mom but you feel overwhelmed or weary or just don't have a clear path to the next step toward a successful family life? The Practically Speaking MOM, Val Harrison, is here to bring some order to the chaos and some focus to the confusion. You don’t have to be the perfect mom to have a strong family, you need a plan! Join author, speaker, mother of seven, mother-in-law of four, and grandma of five, as she shares wisdom and encouragement about the six areas of an intentional mom's life. You'll learn from her years of experience, successes, mistakes and redemption. Val and her husband Rich have been married 32 years and she's been homeschooling for 25 years. This podcast covers all stages of parenting, from babies to toddlers to teens and beyond. Val wants to encourage you to not become weary in your work as an intentional mom, "Even with all its unique personalities, imperfections and scars; your family is God's masterpiece. Your efforts matter in this worthy journey of motherhood." Galatians 6:9 says, "Do not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time you'll reap a harvest if you do not give up." Let's walk this marathon journey of motherhood TOGETHER, right here, on the Practically Speaking MOM podcast, the place for an intentional mom to build a strong family.

146. Talking to Your Child About Tragedy, Fears, & Why God Allows Bad Things to Happen - Parenting In the Trenches
An unscripted, honest look at the difficult parenting task of talking to our kids about tragedy - facing fear with them, giving them tools to manage fear or anxiety, effective discussion topics to grow kids who become hope-filled, difference makers in our world, and looking at the question, "How could a good God allow bad things to happen."
This is our first ever "parenting in the trenches" episode - a new, occasional theme that is basically a conversation with Val without the music, without an intro or outtro. Val is just inviting you, her mom friend, over for a cup of coffee to talk about a parenting issue that she has been facing that may help you face the same thing.
Coming Up on the Practically Speaking MOM Podcast:
We've got a guest for each week of June.!
Wk 1 Amy Kusmaul, is a mom of four boys and one daughter.
Wk 2 of June, in our Father's Day episode, Rich Harrison will talk about failure- Shaping our Kids Perspective about Failure.
Wk 3, Dakota Hammond and Val have an awesome discussion regarding words of affirmation and visionary parenting
Wk 4, Andrew Dahilig, who has a heart for middle schoolers, will be talking about the importance of challenges in our kids' lives.
It's a great lineup for all parents of all kids, but I will say there will be extra attention given to examples regarding boys and fathers. Even if you are a single mom with only girls you will still get a lot out of each week in June, but if you are a mom of boys, you'll be feeling especially inspired in your parenting.
Be sure to connect with Val and other intentional moms in the private Facebook group Intentional Mom Strong Family. Look for the conversation where moms are sharing how they communicated with their kids about the tragedy this past week that took place in Texas, where 19 children and two lost their lives. How did you talk to your kids about it? Or did you choose not to discuss it with them?
